Sandustry Tips & Tricks — Copy, Grabber, Fluid Lines & Filters

Four small habits with outsized payoff — duplicate repeated structures with copy-paste, level the Grabber early, split fluids into their own lines, and let Filters isolate byproducts.

Four habits that quietly separate a smooth first factory from a messy one. If you are just starting out, pair this with the Sandustry Beginner Guide for the full progression path.

Copy-Paste Repeated Structures

Select a structure with C, then duplicate whole sections using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. Any layout you build twice by hand is a layout you should have copied the first time.

Level Up the Grabber Early

The official Beginner's Guide calls this out explicitly: improve the Grabber early. Until your factory is fully automated, you will be hauling material by hand more often than you expect, and a stronger Grabber makes every one of those trips cheaper.

Give Each Fluid Its Own Lines

Pipes happily carry several fluid types at once — the problem appears at the end. A Liquid Vent cannot choose which fluid it releases, so shared lines eventually spit out the wrong liquid in the wrong place. Separate fluid networks stay predictable.

Let Filters Deal With Byproducts

Whenever one production line carries several materials at once, Filters are the tool that pulls a specific output out of the stream. Shaker lines with their Residue-plus-Gold output are the classic case.

For the machine behind that chain, see the Shaker in the database.
