ABOUT SANDUSTRY
What is Sandustry?
Sandustry is a factory automation, exploration, and base-building strategy game developed by Lantto Games and published by Hooded Horse. You arrive on an unexplored planet and turn its terrain and resources into an expanding industrial system.
Materials are more than inventory items. Sand absorbs water, ice melts into water, water can become steam, seeds react with water, and resources can change state as part of your production chains. Beneath the surface, ancient ruins, artifacts, puzzles, and new technologies give you reasons to keep digging deeper.

Gold & Research
Gold drives your early research progression. Learn how Wet Sand, Shakers, Residue, and later production stages turn raw materials into the resources needed to unlock new technology.
03
Materials & Reactions
Learn what happens when Sand meets Water, how Water changes state, and why controlling liquids, gases, heat, and cold becomes part of factory design.
04
Logistics & Automation
Move solids with Conveyors and Launchers, separate resources with Filters, and build fluid systems with Pumps, Pipes, and Liquid Vents.

MATERIAL REFERENCE
Popular Materials
Water
A critical factory resource used to wet Sand and Seeds. It can come from natural water deposits, melting Ice, and rain created from Steam.
Lava
Found deep underground. Lava can be converted into a transportable solid form and later turned back into Lava where you need it.
Copper
Browse Copper and Copper Ore information, related processing, and where they fit into Sandustry's material system.
Prismite
Browse Prismite and related material information.
Florin
Learn where Florin appears in Sandustry's later material and energy production chains.
Amethelis
Explore Amethelis and its role in plant processing and later production chains.
PRODUCTION
Core Buildings to Learn
Shaker
Processes Wet Sand into Residue, with roughly a 25% chance to also extract Gold.
Kinetic Press
Drop Burnt Residue onto the press from at least 25 blocks above to turn it into Gold and Seeds.
Planter Box
Place a Wet Seed on a Planter Box to grow it into a Flower.
Synthesizer
One of Sandustry's production buildings and part of the wider factory-building system.

WHY THIS SITE EXISTS
Find the Answer. Get Back to Building.
Sandustry connects materials, machines, physics, research, and exploration into long production chains. A single problem can involve several different systems at once.
This fan-made site organizes those systems around the questions players actually search for: how a material works, how a machine works, how to build a production line, and how to solve a specific problem without digging through unrelated information.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sandustry multiplayer?
The current Steam version is listed as single-player.
How do you get Gold in Sandustry?
One early production method is to combine Sand with Water to create Wet Sand and process it with a Shaker. Each Wet Sand becomes Residue and has roughly a 25% chance to also produce Gold.
How do you move Lava?
Lava itself cannot be transported like normal fluids. One documented method is to freeze Lava into Scoria, break it into Cinder, transport the Cinder, and ignite it again to recreate Lava.
Does Sandustry support mods?
Yes. Steam lists Steam Workshop support, and the developer describes Sandustry as being built with modding in mind.
Is Sandustry still in Early Access?
Yes. Sandustry entered Steam Early Access on August 13, 2026.
